The Truth About Refractive Lens Exchange
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) works by replacing your eye’s natural lens with an advanced intraocular lens (IOL) designed to improve the clarity of your vision and reduce or even eliminate your dependence on glasses. This is the same procedure as cataract surgery that our surgeons are highly experienced in, however, your lens is removed before it forms a cloudy cataract.

Clear Vision Over 45 is Possible!
No more readers, no more bifocals, never have cataracts!

Effective option to decrease or eliminate the need for readers
After the age of 40, the natural lens of your eye starts to lose its flexibility, making it difficult to focus over a range of distances. This condition is called presbyopia, a natural aging process of the eye. You may need to use over the counter reading glasses or remove your glasses or contact lenses to see up close. Others may need to rely on monovision contact lenses, bifocals, or trifocals in order to see clearly at all distances. Regardless, these changes begin to affect your active lifestyle. Luckily, Ennen Eye Center has a solution!
Who is a Candidate?
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is an ideal option for people in their 40s and beyond with healthy eyes who depend on readers, bifocals, and contact lenses but have not yet developed cataracts in need of removal.
What about LASIK?
While LASIK is a great option for many people with a wide range of prescriptions, it is not usually the best option to correct your near vision.
