Dr. Rodriguez is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He joined Ennen Eye Center after proudly serving the US Air Force for 8 years. Dr. Rodriguez had multiple foreign tours during his time in the service and is the proud recipient of an Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and an Air Force Achievement Medal.  

Dr. Rodriguez is a native Arkansan. He grew up in Jacksonville, AR and graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors in 2007 from University of Central Arkansas’ Honors College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he graduated with the distinguished Robert Key Award for the graduating senior with the highest cumulative GPA for the class of 2012. Dr. Rodriguez completed his ophthalmology residency in 2016 from the nation’s premier military medical education center in San Antonio, TX (SAUSHEC).

He then spent four years as the Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH where he became highly experienced in PRK, LASIK, and ICL refractive surgery on our nation’s service men and women. He further specializes in sutureless, laser cataract surgery with advanced technology for astigmatism and presbyopia. Dr. Rodriguez has a particular interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.

Dr. Joe Zimmer joined Ennen Eye Center after completing his residency training in Temple, Texas. As a native of the Ozarks, Dr. Zimmer grew up in southwest Missouri. After competing for a stint as a wrestler at the University of Nebraska, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Missouri State University with a 4.0 GPA and was given the Chemistry Department Outstanding Senior Award. Dr. Zimmer graduated from medical school at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

After sensing his calling into ophthalmology, he underwent an internship in Internal Medicine and Residency in Ophthalmology at Texas A&M/Baylor Scott & White Eye Institute in Temple, Texas where he served as chief ophthalmology resident. He has been trained as a comprehensive ophthalmologist with interests in cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, keratorefractive (LASIK and PRK) surgery, and basic eyelid surgeries.
